Codes and Conventions of a Music Video

A music video is a short film or video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings.

Music videos use a wide range of styles of film making techniques, including animation, live action filming, documentaries, and non-narrative approaches such as abstract film.

What you would find from music videos, the codes and conventions will vary depending on what type of music video your analysing. The codes and conventions of the music video that I’ve looked at which is; Hip/Hop and Rap, generally include, girls, fast cars, drink (alcohol), clubs, money, and all the signs of money i.e, jewellery.
